There are many things that can ruin your website. If you have the wrong domain name, that will ruin your website. If you don’t submit your website to search engines, that will also ruin your website. If your website looks like a 5 year old created the site in five minutes you will not sell anything on your website. There are a lot of different signs that your website looks unprofessional. You will want to make sure that your website is completely finished and free from errors before you submit your website to any search engines. You don’t want to scare off potential customers.

One sign that your website is unprofessional is that your background and your text doesn’t match. You have a bright green background with pink font. You want to have a background which isn’t too bright because this will hurt the customers eyes and not make you any sales. You want to make the font easy to read. You don’t want a black background with dark brown font. You want a black background with cream colored font so that it’s easy to read.

You don’t want your font to be visible by space. Do not make the font so large that the people across the street can read your font clearly. You don’t want the font to be microscopic either. You want to have font which is between a size 10 and a size 14 font. Different styles of font will produce different sizes and look larger even though they are a certain size.

Don’t make your images over power your website. Don’t have your images cutting off your text. Don’t make your navigations buttons so large that they take up a good portion of your website. You don’t want to lead your customers in circles so you will want to make your page very easy to navigate around. You don’t want to leave your website up and running when there are pages that don’t exist or there are pages that lead to nothing. Make sure you keep up on your website and check it daily to make sure that it’s working.

You will not want to capitalize everything on your webpage. Do not use a lot of bold or italics and do not underline items unless they are titles or links. It’s very annoying when people write in all capital, underlined letters. Try to make your website so that it isn’t distracting to potential customers.
